ADVANTAGES

Hybrid cars consume an average of 60% less gasoline than regular cars. Due to the reduced combustion of fossil fuels – which are partly responsible for global warming and the worsening of the greenhouse effect, they are a great ally for passengers who want to cooperate with the environment positively in a comfortable, affordable and yet sophisticated way.

What is a hybrid car?

They are called hybrid cars because they have two engines: a combustion engine (gasoline), and an electric one that recharges itself automatically, and can work independently or together to provide the most efficient propulsion method according to the need at the time.

The battery that powers the electric motor can be recharged by both the combustion engine and the regenerative braking process, and because of this this type of hybrid vehicle never needs to be recharged from an external source.

When leaving immobility and moving at low speeds, the electric motor powers the car.

If you need more vigorous acceleration, the two engines will work together for better performance. At the same time, the combustion engine powers the generator and the electric motor uses the energy from the batteries as needed.

What is a plug-in hybrid car?

The plug-in hybrid vehicle, or PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) also has a combustion engine and an electric motor that can work together or independently.

Because its battery is much larger than in a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid cannot be charged by the gasoline engine and regenerative braking alone and needs to be connected to an external charger to be fully efficient as expected.

And thanks to the larger batteries, PHEV models have the advantage of being able to drive at higher speeds and longer distances in 100% electric mode.

In most models of this type, it is possible to run from 40 to 60 km using only electricity. In this case, those who make shorter trips can use the car as if it were a zero-emission electric model most of the time.

  1. Great autonomy in electric mode, and low fuel consumption in hybrid mode.
  2. Autonomy exclusively with an electric motor, without spending a drop of fuel.
